0About VideoDB MCP
VideoDB MCP lets Claude edit, clip, transcribe, subtitle, search and visually analyse videos in your VideoDB account. It understands what happens on screen, not just what people say. Import videos from URLs and YouTube links or connect live streams, then get timestamped answers, playable clips and shareable links.
Video editing and highlights Trim and cut videos, stitch clips into highlight reels, render timelines and reframe for Shorts and Reels. Try: "Create a 30-second highlight reel from this video."
Transcription and subtitles Get timestamped transcripts, find spoken moments and add burned-in subtitles. Try: "Transcribe this video and add captions."
Visual analysis Analyse scenes, objects, people, actions and events, even without dialogue, and answer questions with the supporting moments. Try: "Watch this video and explain what happens on screen."
Semantic search Search long recordings and whole collections in plain language and get exact moments back as playable clips. Try: "Find every time someone picks up a red object."
Live video and cameras Connect RTSP feeds, index them as they run and trigger alerts on events. Try: "Alert me when someone enters this camera feed."
Setup Claude (web and desktop): open Settings > Connectors and add VideoDB from the directory, or add a custom connector with https://mcp.videodb.io/mcp. Click Connect, log in to VideoDB and click Authorize. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http videodb https://mcp.videodb.io/mcp, then run /mcp to authorize. A VideoDB account is free at console.videodb.io, no credit card required.
Good for YouTube videos, podcasts, meetings, tutorials, social clips, research footage, camera feeds and AI workflows.

Overview
Who is it for?
Developers, researchers and content teams who want Claude to work on their own videos and live streams, from Claude chat, Claude Code or any other MCP client.
Problem
A chat model can't scrub through hours of footage or watch a live camera feed by itself. Getting a timestamped answer, a clip or subtitles out of a long video still means searching and editing by hand.
Solution
The hosted server at mcp.videodb.io/mcp gives Claude tools over your VideoDB account. Claude imports videos from URLs and YouTube links, transcribes and indexes them, searches by what was said or shown, and returns clips, highlight reels and subtitled cuts as playable links. You log in to VideoDB once; no API key goes into a config file.
What makes it unique
VideoDB does the video work on its servers, so Claude gets back timestamps and playable stream links, not raw files. It also covers live RTSP, RTMP and HLS streams with alerts, and meeting recording. Every tool is labelled with a kind, so Claude knows when a call changes your account and should ask you first.
