About Refract

Refract is a social media scheduler that helps users write a single post and automatically creates native versions for 12 different social networks. You provide the initial point and details, then Refract's AI drafts platform-specific posts in your voice and within each platform's limits.

You review and approve each version before it is scheduled to post according to your calendar. The platform supports images and video editing, bulk import, scheduling drag-and-drop, approvals, and analytics. 12 networks including TikTok, Bluesky, and Slack are currently supported.

Refract also builds rules based on your repeated editing patterns to refine future AI-generated posts, and offers an API and integrations for agencies and developers. A mobile app is coming soon for sharing from Photos.

How it was built with Claude

Pretty much every layer. I'm building Refract mostly solo, so Claude was a big part of the team.

Code: Claude Code was my pair programmer for the Laravel and React app, from the composer and calendar to the 12 network integrations.

Design: the composer, calendar and marketing pages started as mockups in Claude Design before I built them.

Inside the product: Claude writes the per-network versions. You write one note, and it turns it into a Bluesky post, a TikTok caption or a DEV article, each written for where it's going. Links, prices and dates are checked in code afterwards, and nothing posts until you approve it.

MCP: Refract has a hosted MCP server, so you can ask Claude to draft and schedule posts across your networks. It can create drafts and send them for approval, but there's no "publish now" tool, so a person always has the last word.

Launch: Claude also ran the marketing side with me: keyword research, an SEO and AI-visibility dashboard, comparison pages, and submissions like this one.

Biggest lesson: let Claude do the writing, but keep the facts and the final OK outside the model.
